A perceção do residente chinês em Portugal face à hotelaria portuguesa

Abstract

Nos últimos anos a China tem-se destacado como um país emissor de turistas para o resto do mundo. Após a pandemia tem previsão para continuar a crescer segundo a EIU (2023). Posto isto, é essencial conhecer o que agrada a este tipo de turistas e sermos capazes de poder fornecer o que estes procuram, visto terem uma cultura e costumes totalmente diferentes dos países ocidentais. Esta dissertação, realizada no âmbito do mestrado de Gestão, procura conhecer se a gestão hoteleira portuguesa tem as práticas necessárias para satisfazer todas as necessidades dos turistas chineses que visitam Portugal. Foi realizado um questionário aos residentes chineses da Área Metropolitana do Porto, permitindo a recolha de opiniões acerca da hoteleira no país, bem como realizar a caracterização pessoal destes. O estudo baseou-se numa amostra com um total de 103 inquiridos. É possível retirar algumas conclusões dos resultados obtidos nesta dissertação, tais como o facto de existir dois grupos de chineses, de faixas etárias diferentes, com uma perspetiva totalmente diferente em relação à gestão hotelaria em Portugal. Enquanto os chineses mais jovens não sentem falta da cultura chinesa nos hotéis e pensam estar adequada às necessidades destes, os mais velhos não prescindem da sua cultura e dizem que a hotelaria portuguesa deverá focar-se mais neste nicho, agradando mais a este público. É possível perceber que o que mais sentem falta na gestão hoteleira portuguesa é a falta de funcionários capazes de se comunicar em chinês. A amostra do estudo demonstrou preferência pela classificação hoteleira de quatro estrelas, todavia, alguns revelaram não dar importância para o preço dos quartos, preferindo pagar mais por qualidade e conforto. In recent years China has stood out as a source country. After the pandemic, it is expected to be continue growing according to the EIU (2023). That said, it is essential to know what pleases this type of tourists and be able to provide what they are looking for, since they have a culture and customs different from Western countries. This dissertation, conducted as part of the master’s in management, seeks to know if the Portuguese hotel management can meet all the needs of Chinese tourists visiting Portugal. A questionnaire was given to Chinese residents in the Northern region of Portugal, allowing the collection of opinions about the hotel industry in the country, as well as their personal characterization. The study was based on a sample with a total of 103 respondents. It is possible to draw some conclusions from the results obtained in this dissertation, such as the fact that there are two groups of Chinese, of different age groups, with a totally distinct perspectives on hotel management in Portugal. While the younger Chinese do not miss the Chinese culture in the hotels and think it is adequate to their needs, the older ones do not give up their culture and say that the Portuguese hotel industry should focus more on this niche, to please this public more. It is possible to see that what they miss most in Portuguese hotel management is the lack of employees able to communicate in Chinese. The study sample showed a preference for the four-star hotel rating, however, some revealed that they don't give importance to the price of the rooms, preferring to pay more for quality and comfort.
