Cidade ponte intermodal : proliferação urbana como religação de Portimão

Abstract

Cidade Ponte Intermodal. Um modelo arquitetónico que enquanto objeto da cidade, liga duas margens, ao mesmo tempo que promove a desejável utilização dos transportes públicos. A dissertação procura responder a uma problemática local que afeta significativamente o fluxo urbano: Uma indesejável rutura na cidade resultante do fenómeno de expansão territorial que se registou após o forte desenvolvimento económico, social e tecnológico da cidade de Portimão no início do século XX. O caminho de ferro que estaria inicialmente em 1915, adaptado à escala limite da cidade, hoje devido à expansão da mancha urbana, apresenta-se como um elemento dissonante e disruptor da vida urbana que anima o lugar. Como proposta de contributo para a resolução da questão, procurar-se à enquadrar esta nova realidade, promovendo a proliferação da malha urbana, ou melhor, do lugar, dando continuidade à cidade. A investigação através da metodologia research by design, irá estudar o modo desse crescimento histórico a partir de uma hipótese de trabalho que propõe a construção de uma plataforma intermodal capaz de reunificar o lugar; um edificado neutro que se adapta às diferentes malhas urbanas em presença, permitindo o atravessamento da atual barreira urbana. Intermodal Bridge City. An architectural model that, as an object of the city, connects two edges, while promoting the desirable use of public transport. The dissertation works in corresponding to a local problematic that significantly affects the urban flow: an undesirable rupture in the city resulting from the phenomenon of territorial expansion that occurred after the strong economic, social and technological development in Portimão in the beginning of the 20th century. The railroad, that would initially be in 1915, adapted to the limit scale of the city, today due to the expansion of the urban area, presents itself as a dissonant and disruptive element of the flow that globally gives life to the place. As a proposal to contribute for the resolution of the issue, an attempt will be made to frame this new reality by promoting the proliferation of the urban mesh, or better, the environment, giving continuity to the city. The investigation, using the research by design methodology, will study the mode of this historical growth based on a working hypothesis that proposes the construction of an intermodal platform capable of reunifying the place. A neutral building that adapts to the present different urban mesh, allowing the crossing of the current urban barrier.
