Centro de interpretação e reabilitação do forte do Beliche – Sagres

Abstract

O tema de intervenção em património tem assumido um papel determinante na Arquitetura e na sociedade contemporânea e, tem sido alvo de um crescente debate cultural, incidindo tanto na sua importância quanto na sua necessidade, como forma de preservação das formas construtivas e da memória a elas associadas As fortificações edificadas ao longo da costa Portuguesa assentam num sistema de defesa e vigilância, encontrando-se localizadas em pontos estratégicos que marcam e caracterizam muitas das nossas paisagens e acumulam forte carga simbólica. Trata-se pois, de um património arquitetónico muito significativo, ligado às vivências e à memória das diversas comunidades locais, suscitando grande interesse por parte dos especialistas e da população em geral. Estes monumentos foram fundamentais na defesa do território e, são símbolos vivos e testemunhos do passado que devem ser respeitados e valorizados pela sua identidade e seu valor histórico-cultural. A presente dissertação pretende identificar o valor patrimonial do Forte do Beliche, usando‐o enquanto alavanca para o desenvolvimento do seu entendimento e demais questões, contextualizando‐o como um elemento útil e destacando as relações com o sítio onde se insere de forma criteriosa, analisando e definido estratégias de intervenção que procuram a valorização do potencial arquitetónico, turístico e/ou sócio‐cultural e económico, dada a sua reconhecida qualidade enquanto testemunho histórico. Em suma, para além do inerente simbolismo e importância patrimonial do Forte do Beliche, pretende estudar a problemática da reabilitação e da reconversão de usos como veículo de preservação e conhecimento do património arquitetónico.

The theme of intervention in built heritage has become important for architecture and for contemporary society, and has been a motive for a growing cultural debate about its importance and its necessity, since it is a tool for the preservation of constructive forms and memory associated with them. The fortifications built along the Portuguese coast are based on a system of defense and observation, so they are located in strategic points that mark and characterize many of our landscapes and have a strong symbolism. In this way, these fortifications are a very significant architectural heritage, linked to the experiences and the memory of the various local communities, motivating great interest in the specialists and the population in general. These monuments were fundamental in the defense of the territory. They are symbols and testimonies of a past so must be respected and valued for their identity and their historical-cultural value. This dissertation intends to identify the heritage value of Forte do Beliche, developing knowledge about it and other related issues, contextualizing it as a useful element and prudently emphasizing its relations with the place where it is inserted, analyzing and defining strategies of intervention that pursue the appreciation of its architectural, tourism and / or socio-cultural and economic potential, given its recognized quality as historical legacy. In summary, in addition to the study of the symbolism and heritage importance of the Forte do Beliche, this dissertation seeks to study the problem of rehabilitation and reconversion of uses of heritage built as a vehicle for the preservation and development of knowledge about the architectural heritage
