Abstract

O tema Uma Aldeia Náutica no Estuário do Rio Mira: Para uma Arquitectura de Convivialidade com a Água propõe uma interpretação dos aspectos poéticos, simbólicos e funcionais subjacentes ao tema das «arquitecturas do limite entre a terra e a água»1. Desenvolve um estudo de caso, numa abordagem teórico-prática dos conceitos aprofundados, que procura explorar o tema, enquadrando-o nas necessidades socioeconómicas e características geográficas da região. As «arquitecturas do limite entre a terra e a água», tendencialmente resultado de necessidades programáticas muito específicas são, até à modernidade, frequentemente a imagem da «expressão vernacular» das respectivas épocas e zonas geográficas em que foram edificadas. A reflexão estética, as expressões poética e simbólica, neste tipo de arquitecturas, desenvolvem-se mais acentuadamente apenas a partir do modernismo. Esta evolução da via erudita promove a convivialidade entre a arquitectura e a água e potencia a apropriação de espaços através de novas contextualizações que imprimem significado e valor simbólico aos programas desenvolvidos. Este estudo parte do desejo de aprofundar o conhecimento dos vectores presentes neste tipo de arquitecturas, aspirando ser um apelo à reflexão sobre a utilização da água como leitmotive do processo criativo das «arquitecturas do limite entre a terra e a água».

The topic A Nautical Village in the Mira River Estuary: For an Architecture of Conviviality with the Water proposes an interpretation of the poetic, symbolic and functional aspects underlying the theme of architectures of the limit between land and water2. Develops a case study, with a theoretical and practical approach to the concepts deliberated, seeking to explore the issue framing it in the socio-economic and geographical needs of the region. The architectures of the limit between land and water tendentiously the result of specific programmatic necessities are, until the modernity, often an image of vernacular expression of its respective periods and geographical areas in which they were edified. The aesthetic reflection, the poetic and symbolic expressions in this kind of architectures, developed more markedly only from the modernism. This erudite evolution promotes conviviality between the architecture and the water and also potentiates the appropriation of spaces through a new contextualization that imprints meaning and symbolic value to the designed programs. This study is based on the desire to deepen the knowledge of the vectors that interact in this kind of architectures, aspiring to be an appeal to the reflection on the use of water as the leitmotiv in the creative process of architectures that by virtue of their location have the potential to generate differentiated formal and constructive expressions.
